Films from over 130 countries applied for OSCAR-qualifying TISFF in Iran

Thousands of films from 131 countries have applied for the 39th edition of Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) in Iran.

The festival’s organizers said 5012 films from 131 countries applied for the 39th edition of TISFF.

According to the report, most of the films come from France (572), Spain (401), India (346), China (231), the US (221), Brazil (213), Germany (191), Italy (188), Russia (162), Turkey (149), Canada (101), and Mexico (86).

The films that will be selected to take part in the international section of the festival will be announced in September.

The Tehran International Short Film Festival, which is organized by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS), is one of the oldest short film festivals not only in Iran, but also in the region, according the event’s website.

The festival is a member of the International Short Film Conference (ISFC).

Last year, the TISFF was inscribed on the list of the Oscar-qualifying film festivals.

The 39th edition of the Tehran International Short Film Festival will take place on October 19-24.
